《吕氏春秋》作为杂家是先秦最后一部集大成的关门著作,是自成思想理论体系的综合家、统一家。历来在其书的主导思想主于某家上是众说纷纭,而按之原书,均为以偏概全,根本不合其书屡屡申明的融汇百家欲求一统的立说宗旨和实际表现。其书对先秦诸子百家的思想是博采广收,扬长避短,为我所用,自行卓立;既有继承、选取和吸收,又有批判、改造和新创。

Lu-shih Ch'un-ch'iu, as the last great work of the pre-Qin days, is the unity of thoughts and theories as a system. No conclusion has been achieved about its leading thought all through the ages. The book itself takes a part for whole in the question, for it doesn't agree with the aim and reality expressed here and there in the book. The book intends to adopt different thoughts of the hundred schools in pre-Qin times, show their strong points and hide their weakness for its usage, and inherit, absorb and select some of the thoughts and thus criticism, adaptation and creation come into being.
