The male position in Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio by Pu Songling is not only the publicizing of liberty and soul but also the cautious persistence in the might and male-centered consciousness. Though charming women's blatantly seeking publicity is conspicuous, their appearance still can't break away from the obedience to the males. The withdrawal and cautiousness in Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio is an everlasting contradiction, which helps to portray the image of 'ugly women' and 'foolish men' with a profound and cultural symbolic meaning.
