This article analyses the main obstacles that influence the improvement of students' English listening ability, such as pronunciation obstacle, lexicology and grammar obstacle, tempo obstacle, listening habit obstacle and cultural background obstacle etc. And then it proposes the concrete means of overcoming these listening obstacles and developing students' listening skills. It emphasizes that as long as students lay a solid language foundation, master much knowledge of cultural background and have good learning habits, they can improve their listening ability more effectively.
