The cultural translatability has been a hot topic in translation since 80s. Two schools of thought stand in stalemate: translatability and intranslatability. The hassle in theory is contrasted by the translators' perplexity. It is a beautiful dream to transmit Chinese culture to foreign lands but the reality is a disappointment. This paper presents the intraslatability by examples in cooking culture.
