上海市轨道交通明珠线是由原穿越市区的铁路改建而成,原有42个平交道口对城市交通的压力极大,阻碍了城市的经济发展。铁路参与城市建设,拆除既有铁路,改建为高架轨道交通明珠线是成功的范例。

The Pearl Line for rail transit in Shanghai is rebuilt from the exist-ing railroad running through the city. The original 42 railroad levelcrossings were a great pressure on the city's transportation. The pearlline is a successful example in rebuilt of existing railroad into urbanrail transit line with elevated sections to enhance local economicdevelopment.
