Hemingway's passion for travel and adventure carried him all over the world and his life was an endless journey. Of all the countries he traveledto, Spain stood out strongly in Hemingway's affections and remained his spiritual home. He loved the unspoiled country and admired the honest and innocent Spaniards. He loved bullfighting, which was a religion for him. His journeys to the Spanish fiesta were as pilgrimages to life' s altar. The bullfight was also his metaphor for the artist' s way of writing, from which he developed his own style: honesty, straight-forwardness, and sincerity.
