An Explanation of Life Implicity Lying in Horse Images in Dufu's Poems

马是杜甫诗歌中出现次数最多的意象,杜甫从“宝马英雄”和“骐骥不遇”的传统母题出发,运用中国传统文学特有的意象模式来抒写自己的英雄情结和“不遇情怀”。杜甫创作的各个阶段诗人心象与马意象存在内在联系。杜甫绘制的马意象图不仅是自己人生的缩影,而且是自身价值追寻的过程。尤其是“病马”、“老马”、“瘦马”等描写丰富了马意象的主题文化。

The horse images were adopted most frequently in Dufu's poems. From the view of traditional motifs, Dufu expressed his heroic affection and frustration in political areas with the image of horse. Through different stages of creation, there were inner contacts between poet's vision and horse images. The various images of horse were not only the epitomes of the poet's life but also his seeking for ideal. Particularly the 'ill horse', 'old horse', 'thin horse' etc. enriched the themes of horse culture.
