“新世纪高等院校英语专业本科生系列教材”顺应时代要求，结合语言学习、教育学、心理学等领域的最新研究成果，具有前瞻性、先进性和创新性等特点，对于编写外语教材具有很大启示意义。本文尝试对该系列教材的编写理念、编写内容、编写体例、配套教材等方面进行具体阐释，同时结合教学实践对其应用提出一些建议。

Adapting to the requirements of this era and employing the latest discoveries in language learning, education and psychology, New Century Coursebook Series for English Majors is characterized by its foresight, progressiveness and creativity. It is of great enlightenment to the compilation of foreign language teaching materials. This paper attempts to expound of the coursebook series the relevant framework, content, format, teaching materials, etc. Meanwhile it tends to put forward some suggestions on the application of the series based on teaching practice.
