英汉委婉语作为一种语言现象,有其独特的来源及构成方法,同时也是一种文化现象,能折射出东西方国家的不同风俗习惯和社会心理。文章通过对《红楼梦》汉、英版本中“死亡”的典型委婉语用例加以对比分析,以透视这些委婉语在表达上的异同。

Euphemism, a language phenomena, has its own resource and the way of formation and is a cultural expression. It can reflect different customs and social psychology of the east and west countries. This article intends to probe the different expressions of euphemism used in the Chinese and English editions of A Dream of Red Mansions.
