Tourism Science Expected to Be a Discipline

旅游学研究若想成为一门相对独立的学科,就必须对旅游现象作出不同于其他学科的解释,但由于各种原因,以往这一领域常以“综述”其他学科内容为主,无法实现学科自立。近年学界对学科建设愈来愈重视,许多人投入学科理论、概念、方法等基础问题的讨论。这些讨论相当于建筑房屋必不可少的图纸,而《基础旅游学》一书则相当于一个盖起的房子。本文把它看作一份理论实践的样本,分析它如何以新的视角定位研究对象,构建理论体系,在最基础意义上实现了对各相关学科的综合,从而使旅游学科以一种理论体系、一门系统学问的姿态初步站立起来。

If the study of tourism science is expected to become a relatively independent discipline, we must explain tourism phenomenon different from other disciplines. However, owing to various reasons, we tend to “summarize” the content of other disciplines instead of having independent theory. Recently more emphasis is being laid on the construction of this discipline. Many people have been discussing such basic problems as discipline theory, concept and method. These discussions are equivalent to blueprints indispensable for building houses. The book “Basic Tourism Science” is just like a completed house. The author regards this book as a sample of both theory and practice. It could be used to analyse the research object with a new visual angle, construct theoretical system and realize the synthesis with related disciplines so that tourism discipline could be initially set up with a theoretical system and a systematic learning.
