史铁生的创作可大体分为前后两个阶段,其中一以贯之的是面对困境人的精神何以自救的命题,后期小说特别是《务虚笔记》体现出与传统的小说截然不同的旨趣,传统小说关注的是“现实”的范畴,史铁生的后期小说关注的是“可能”的范畴,是对人的命运的可能性的揭示及对人的困境的认识与探究。

Thc creating life of Shi Tie-sheng can be roughly devided into two phases, in which the spiritual salvation of people in predicament is a consistent motif. His latter novels, wuxubiji, in particular, reveals the purport which is completely different from that of traditional novels. What traditional novels consider belongs to “reality”category, whereas Shi′s latter novels mainly consider“ possibilities”-the revelation of possibilities of human fate and some research into human predicament.
