The Culture Source of the Differences Between the Metaphor of English and Chinese

英语和汉语都广泛使用着隐喻这一修辞方法。源自中西两种文化的隐喻大致有以下两种关系:对应关系和非对应关系。隐喻的含义与文化传统有密切关系,从生活环境、价值观念、神话传说三个方面探讨英汉隐喻的文化异同,寻求隐喻导致的跨文化交际障碍之源,有利于英汉文化的传播和交流以及促进文化的共同繁荣和发展。

'Metaphor' as one rhetoric tactics, is extremely common. In a sense, language itself is one of metaphor. English and Chinese, are all using this rhetoric tactics of the metaphor extensively. The metaphor which stemming from two kinds of culture roughly has the following two relations: Correspondence and non - correspondence. The meaning of the metaphor has close relations with cultural tradition , this text aims at three respects from living environment , values , mythology and probes into the cultural similarities and differences of English - Chinese metaphors, in order to seek the source of cross - cultural communication obstacle that the metaphor causes. The discussions of English - Chinese metaphor generality and individual character will be favorable to the spread and exchange of these two cultures. It will be helpful to the mutual understanding in cross - cultural communication and communicate, the mutual study of two kinds of culture, the promotion of the mutual prosperity and the development of culture.
