Discussion about the Development and Influence of Tianshui Book Culture During the Period of the Republic of China

民国时期尤其是抗战期间,天水图书文化事业异常繁荣,为全省乃至西北所注目。其原因既有文风的传承,更有乡贤的努力,亦有时局的影响。其作用与影响遍及社会教育、学术研究、文学活动、对外交流诸多方面。

During the period of the Republic of China, especially of Anti-Japanese War, Tianshui formed a quite prosperous book culture, which attracted attention from Gansu and the northern part of China. It was caused by complex reasons such as the effects of cultural tradition, efforts made by the local people and influences of the political situation. The prosperous book culture also had efforts on social education, academic research, artistic activities, communication with westerns and so on.
