在全球化和中国已经加入世贸组织的国际、国内背景下,中国人若不在思想观念方面来一个现代性的转型,要想迅速提升综合国力,达到全面建成小康社会和成为中等发达国家的目的,就几乎不可能。这就不能不涉及如何对待中国传统文化的问题,不能不涉及传统文化与西方文化的关系问题,不能不涉及如何构建面向世界、面向现代化、面向未来的中国先进文化的问题。

Under the international and domestic background of globalization and China’s entry into WTO, it is nearly impossible for the Chinese people to promote the comprehensive national power rapidly, to achieve the purpose of the all-round realization of the well-to-do society and to become a medium-leveled developed country if they do not modernize their concepts. This will inevitably involve how to deal with the traditional Chinese culture, the relationship between the traditional culture and the Western culture, and how to construct advanced Chinese culture for the world, the modernization and the future of China.
