Coordinative Conjunctions in Red Mansion Dreams

本文从并列连词的使用频率、并列成分的语法特征和语义特征、并列成分之间的关系四个方面,对《红楼梦》中“和、并、与、及、以及、同”六个并列连词进行了统计分析,探讨了影响并列连词使用的因素和并列连词的连接功能与划界功能,并指出《红楼梦》处于承上启下的过渡阶段,在这一时期,现代汉语的并列连词系统已基本形成。

This article analyses the factors which influcence the usage and the functions of the coordinative conjunctions he (和), bing (并), yu (与), ji (及), yiji (以及), tong (同) in Red Mansion Dreams . It studies, with the qualitative and quantitative methods, their frequency of occurrence, the morphological and semantic features of phrases linked by them and relations among the phrases. The article draws the conclusion that Red Mansion Dreams represents a transitional stage from classical Chinese to modern Chinese, at which the system of coordinative conjunctions had basically formed.
