Metaphorical phrases are found in all languages. But in Chinese and English metaphorical phrases , some words often have different or even opposite connotations. This gap forces the translator into a dilemma and the translator is sandwiched between the psychological habit of the reader and the flavor of the o-riginal text. Analyzing examples of metaphorical translation from The Dream of Red Mansion, the author tries to sum up the possible solutions in metaphorical translation.
