The harmfulness of earthing failure in generator excitation circuit, its principle of grounding protection in original excitation loop and problems existed were introduced. The principle and its features of grounding protection in switch-sampling type improved excitation circuit were discussed in the paper, the facts showed that the improved measures to grounding protection of generator excitation circuit is reliable and effective.
