张之洞督粤期间治理琼州黎族取得了一定的成效.他客观分析黎区动荡的成因,实行剿抚兼施、分别良莠的方针,稳定了琼州局势;制定较全面的抚黎政策并加以实施,其中有些政策优于前人.

During his reign over Guangdong and Guangxi,Zhang Zhidong made some achievements on governing the Li nationality in Qiongzhou. By objectively analyzing the origin of turbulence in Li nationality's region,he took measures of suppressing riots and comforting innocent civilians separately and stabilized the situation successfully. Furthermore,he made comprehensive policies to comfort the Li nationality,some of which were superior to his predecessors'.Nowadays,people still benefit from the policies he put into effect.
