摘要 The article is presented an outline of two major traditional pe rforming arts genres in Japan with an introduction of theirs stages. Noh, the be st-known Japanese theatrical art is strictly formalized and dignified. In contra st with Noh theaters that was sponsored and refined by the ruling class, one of Japan’s cultural treasures Kabuki was cultivated mainly by merchant class. It i s a highly stylized performing art that combines acting, dancing and music in an extraordinary spectacle of form, color and sound. The kabuki stage is a rotatin g stage and is further equipped with several gadgets like trapdoors through whic h the actors can appear and disappear. Another speciality of the kabuki stage is a footbridge that leads through the audience.
