On the Translation of Scientific and Technical Terms from English to Chinese

英语科技术语翻译要做到翻译等值,译者应尽量找到语义场完全对应的词。因此,在翻译时应抓住两个环节:一是细心理解原文,把握术语在特定的上下文关系中可能的含义;二是依靠专业知识,查阅相关专业词典。

The translation of scientific and technical terms must conform to 'translation equivalence'-a translator should try to find out their full equivalents in the semantic field of the target language. Hence, two points must be paid special attention to in the process of translation one is fully understand the original and try to grasp the most possible meaning of a specific term in the particular context; the other is take advantage of one's professional knowledge and consult some professional dictionaries.
