毋煚是唐中期著名的目录学家,其目录学思想集中体现在《古今书录·序》中。毋不仅开始系统地探讨书目的功用,而且开始从理论上总结图书分类与著录的方法。从而扩大了隋唐时期目录学研究的范围,丰富了中国古代目录学思想的内容,表明了中国古代目录学思想步入成熟时期。

Wu Jiong was a famous specialist on the bibliography in the middle of Tang Dynasty ,whose thoughts on bibliography appeared mainly in the book< Ancient and Modern Book Catalogue and Order>. Wu Jiong not only began to search for the functions of library catalogue systematically, but also summarized the ways of book classification and works catalogue theoretically so that he enlarged the study category of bibliography in both Sui and Tong Dynasties, enriched the contents of thoughts on Chinese ancient bibliography. His thoughts showed that Chinese ancient bibliography had stepped into its mature period.
