On the Inheritance of Traditional Chinese Translation Theory

中国传统翻译理论是建设中国现代翻译理论的宝贵资源,也是现代译论发展的一个立足点,从对传统译论的研究现状来看,评价和总结性质的所占比重较大,而对传统翻译思想和观点的挖掘和提炼还有待于深入,这样才能将传统译论中有价值的部分提取出来进行现代转换,使现代转型之后的传统译论成为中国现代翻译理论不可缺少的一部分。

Traditional Chinese translation theory is one of the valuable resources and bases of modern Chinese translation theory. A brief review on the study of traditional Chinese translation theory shows that most of the concern of the past work has been put on its criticism and summarization. However, more research should be done on the picking out of significant ideas and viewpoints from traditional Chinese translation theory and on the transformation of them into modernized theory. Only through modernized transformation can traditional Chinese translation theory grow into an indispensable part of modern Chinese translation theory.
