《别名格雷斯》已成为当代西方女性主义文学经典。小说从百衲被这一日常家居用品着手,充分挖掘它所蕴涵的历史和现实意义。缝制百衲被不仅是女性主义的写作手法之一,也是女性斗争的一面旗帜。通过这一象征物,作家从20世纪末的视角再现了19世纪加拿大的历史和文化。
Alias Grace,is now regarded as an outstanding canonized feminist text. Atwood elaborates the historical and realistic meaning manifested in quilting in Alias Grace. Quilting comes to be associated with the creation of women writers and a representation of women's struggle. Through quilting, Atwood brings the readers back to Canada in 19th century.
