强烈的女性意识是美国文坛新星谭恩美成名作《喜福会》的突出特色。基于独特的华裔妇女身份,作者既通过受封建传统文化压迫最为深重的、旧中国女性形象的塑造,撼人心弦地鞭斥了男性中心主义的残酷性,又通过生活于当代美国社会的女性形象的塑造,揭露了男权文化网络的深邃性及其影响的长期性;并以新时代女性的乐观心态展现了女性从沉默到觉醒再到反抗的寻找主体性的历程;更在自己创造的文本中,有意识地解构了以男性为中心的书写传统,显现出力图颠覆“菲勒斯”中心文化的理想光辉。

The novel The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, an American woman of Chinese origin, is characterized by its strong feminist consciousness. Owing to her special background, the author portrays different female images, including those oppressed by feudalism in old China and modern American women, attacking the cruelty of male superiority in feudal China and exposing the influence of the network of patriarchal culture in modern America. She also describes the long and difficult process of female looking for the subject of self. What’s more, she deconstructs the writing tradition of male center, reflecting her ideal of demolishing the dominant culture of “phallus”.
