托马斯·沃尔夫(ThomasWolfe)是三十年代活跃在美国文坛的著名小说家,其成就斐然却瑕瑜互见。他以情感旋律作为小说的内在结构,继承了以惠特曼、爱默生和马克·吐温为代表的一代美国文化名流所创立的以边疆生活为核心的,切近生活,即兴博发、朴实奔放的文学传统,文风豪放,抒情色彩浓郁。长期以来评论界对他的小说创作形式褒贬参半。但他个性化的抒情性表现风格以及他融入小说语言中感官色彩浓郁的直观表现方式使他的作品独具特色,风格迥异。他的小说因此染上了浓重的史诗性色彩,赢得了广大读者的青睐。
Thomas Wolfe is a famous American writer of the 1930s. He posed himself as a writer of ambiguilty, making great achievements while exhibiting fatal flaws as a novel writer. This paper aims at an exploration of his unique lyrical style in novel writing and learning to appreciate his superb skills in expressing sensual experience. It also probes into the epic aspect of his lyrical novels.
