摘要
加拿大剧作家乔治·里加戏剧的一个实质性特征是回忆之运用。乔治·里加是第一位自觉创造现代意义的加拿大神话的剧作家;他在努力创造加拿大现代神话之时,把对过去的回忆运用于以社会仪式为根基的戏剧框架之中,目的在于追求多元文化社会中的共同价值,共同兴趣,以及大多数人认同的文化体制和道德秩序。人们理应尊重里加的努力,他要求加拿大人关注适合生存的社会文化体制,关注一个自由社会的创造,一种共同文化的形成。
One essential characteristic of George Ryga's plays is his use of memory. As the first Canadian playwright to consciously strive toward creating a national mythology, .Ryga uses memory in the dramatic framework based on social rituals in his efforts to mythologize, in order to seek common values, common interests, and the most popularly recognized cultural and moral order in this multicultural society. Ryga's struggles are respectable, so are his calls for Canadians to be concerned with a viable social system, a viable political system, and with the creation of a free society and a common culture.
