习语是具有民族文化特征的语言形式,中英不同的文化使得英汉习语在表达上有很大差异。本文对比分析了中英不同的意识观念、地理位置与环境、不同的文化对英汉习语的影响;英汉习语源自不同的宗教、神话与传说和寓言故事,因此在表达上存在着明显的差异。只有在了解和掌握两个民族各不相同的文化渊源的基础上,才能顺利进行习语的翻译。

Idioms are a pattern of language which have the characteristics on national culture. The different culture in Chinese and Britain make it different in the expressions of the English-Chinese idioms. The author analyzes the influences on the English-Chinese idioms by the factors, just Like the different ideological concept, geographical location, environment , and different culture. The English-Chinese idioms come from the different religions, myths, legends and fairy tales , so there are obvious differences existed in the expressions. As long as we learn and grasp the different cultural basis of the two peoples , we can translate the idioms smoothly.
