The earthquake tsunami occurred in the Indian Ocean on Dec.26, 2004 has made the people and the governments all around the world pay great attention to it. It is discussed how to prevent the disaster caused by earthquke tsunami and to establish an effective warning system. The history, actuality and headway of surveillance and warning for earthquake tsunami at home and abroad are also introduced in the paper.
