摘要
本文分析了通俗科技英语(ECST)的词汇特征.通俗科技英语既使用人性化、幽默化的时髦词汇,也使用准确、正规的高科技词汇和次科技词汇.通俗科技英语多使用表意清晰、新鲜明确的动词和非谓语动词形式及用独特构词法生成的缩略词、创新词、借词.本文提出了翻译这类词汇的原则:忠于作者原则,服务读者原则,表达流畅原则,紧跟时代原则,适度创新原则.
This paper highlights the features of ECST from a lexical point of view. ECST utilizes exact and formal words, personal and humorous words and highly technical and semi-technical words. In addition, ECST makes a preference for verbs and verbals, favoring abbreviations, coinages and borrowed words, which are used by the unique word-building devices. Then, the paper suggests the translation principles for ECST's words and expressions: 1) faithfulness to the author, 2) service to the reader, 3) expressive naturalness, 4) conformity to the age, 5) cohesiveness to original style.
