'Narrow Cage' and Breakout

论文从曹禺早期的创作实践出发,论述曹禺早期作品中“狭之笼”的总体意象,从场景和冲突揭示“狭之笼”对人的压制,并从“门”和“窗”的意象解释人物的精神突围。最后着重阐述剧作家的审美感受与“狭之笼”的关系,从而进一步说明这一意象在曹禺创作中的价值。

This thesis discusses about the whole image of 'Narrow Cage' in Cao Yu's early plays from the aspect of his writing practice. From the angle of scene and conflict, it reveals characters are suppressed by the 'Narrow Cage'; and from the images of 'door' and 'window', it explains the characters' spiritual breaout. This thesis finally emphasizes Cao-yu's aesthetic feeling about 'Narrow Cage', and further discusses the value of this image in his writing.
