Kafka and Samsa:Reality and Symbol

《变形记》是卡夫卡的代表作之一,其主人公格里高尔·萨姆沙正是卡夫卡本人内心情感的外化,两人之间存在着诸多相似之处:如对自己的工作都是既排斥又无从选择,都有着冷漠的家庭关系和一个专横霸道的父亲,卡夫卡的“患病情结”在格里高尔身上也有明显的体现。

The Meramorphosis is one of Kafka's most famous works. In this short story, Gregor Samsa is the external representation of Kafka's emotion. There are multiple similarities between Kafka's true life and Gregor Samsa's. For example, they are both exclusive from their jobs but they do not have any other choices. Samsa's farther is as autocratical as Kafka's and they are both indifferent with their families .In addition ,the suffering consciousness of Kafka is materialized clearly by Samsa. To analyse and dissertate these connections is helpful for us to comprehend Kafka's mentality and motivation of writing deeply.
