On the “Odepus Complex” and Its Reasons of the Sons and Lovers

在《儿子与情人》一书中,主人公保罗对其母亲挚热的感情,完全符合弗洛伊德心理学中的“俄狄浦斯情结”的症状。讨论保罗对母亲的这种畸形之爱及其诱发的各种因素,包括引论、正文以及结论共四部分。其中第二部分对保罗的恋母情结做了阐述和说明,第三部分则从家庭环境、人际关系、社会环境等方面对其“恋母情结”作了唯物的客观的分析和论证。从而说明保罗恋母情结产生的原因是多种因素合力作用的结果,而其中社会因素占主导地位。

In the book Sons and Lovers, the extremely strong passion given by the hero Paul to his mother seems completely accorded with Doctor Freud’s psychological theory about the symptom of “Odepus Complex”. Four sections are included . The first and the last section is introduction and conclusion respectively. The major part includes the second and the third sections. The argument of this thesis--Paul’s inclination to “Odepus Complex” is to be analyzed and discussed materialistically and objectively by analyzing many aspects such as the family environment, the personal relationships and social environment in the major part of the thesis. It is not difficult to find that the major cause of Paul’s disease lies in the fact that the society has posed too much influence on him.
