Non-equilinrium of Korean Economic Development and its Revelation

经济的非均衡发展虽然是发展中国家工业化初始阶段的普遍理性选择,但韩国的经验表明,如果长期片面追求增长第一的非均衡发展,不能切实兼顾均衡发展问题,最终将使潜在矛盾激化,造成社会冲突、对立与断裂,使前期节约的成本不得不在后期加倍偿还,并失去可持续发展的动力。

Although the non-equilibrium of economic development is universal rational choice of the developing nations in preliminary stage of industrialization, but South Korea’s experience indicated that if one country pursue one-sided non-equilibrium development of “Growth No.1” for a long time, and cannot practically give dual attention to the question of equilibrium development, it will finally cause the intensification of latent contradiction, and lead to the social conflict, opposition and breakdown. Thus the saved cost in the earlier period will have to be doubled repaid in the later period, and will lose the power of sustainable development.
