再论“传统教育”与“进步主义教育”之争——从赫尔巴特到杜威

A Controversy Between Traditional Education and Progressive Education——from Herbert to Dewey

传统观念中以赫尔巴特为代表的传统教育和以杜威为代表的进步主义教育的对立是极其分明的,不可调和的,而实际上二人的理论联系要大于其分歧。本文先从二者的对立中找出联系,指出杜威批判的教育的矛头不在于赫尔巴特,而是与之相对立的社会效率运动;通过对教育目的、教学内容、教学方法的对比,分析其思想中的相关之处。

It is obvious that traditional education represented by J.F. Herbert and progressive education represented by J. Dewey are opposite in traditional conception. In fact, there are more relations in their theories than differences. The object which Dewey animadverted on is not Herbert but the social efficiency movement. From the contrast of educational aim, teaching content and teaching method, we can find the correlative thoughts between them.
