The comparison of the views of life-death between Zhuangzi and Socrates

庄子与苏格拉底颇具特色的生死观在东西方历史上均产生了重要影响,其相同点表现在倡导健康有意义的生活而不惧怕死亡,相异点表现在一从自然主义的立场出发,一从道德主义和理性主义立论。分析比较两者的异同不但对了解现代东西方不同的生死观念有意义,而且对进一步深入开展中西文化比较也具有一定积极意义。

Zhuangzi and Socrates’ views of life-and-death respectively have been important influences on eastern and western history , their similarity is that both of them sparkplugged the meaning life and did not fear death at the same time, the difference is that Zhuangzi’s view was based on naturalism while Socrates’ view was based on moralism and rationalism. Comparing their views of life-and-death is significance to comparison between the different life-and-death views of modern east and west people not only, but also to comparison between eastern culture and western culture.
