The relationship between philosophy and politics is a basic problem of Plato's political philosophy. The paper holds that the theory of Utopia is a methodology design of Plato's political philosophy, which is for moderating the relationship and for dissolving tension between philosophy and politics. Utopia will finally realize its perfect combination of philosophy with politics. But there is continuing tension between philosophy and politics before Utopia is constructed. Plato presents a suggestion that philosopher set criteria and construct rules by applying opinions. In Plato's political philosophy, the most remarkable human action is not politics but philosophy.
