海岸带海啸的破坏后果更甚于风暴潮,宽广的礁坪成为向岸波浪和海啸的消能带,可减轻灾情。要警惕海啸的发生,应搞好南海海啸监测与预警,尽可能提高南海诸岛珊瑚礁岛屿建筑工程标准,切实做好南海珊瑚礁的自然保护。

In China,every year sees natural calamities caused by oceanic storm surge and typhoon,and people have already got used to them.In the coastal zone, the damage effect of tsunami is much larger than that of storm surge. The broad reef flat turns into a zone and fritters away the energy of on-shore wave and tsunami, which may reduce the disaster. Coral reefs in China are widely dispersed over the South China Sea. It is being exploited as treasury. Monitoring and forewarning of tsunami in the South China Sea should be set up and strengthened in order to reduce losses caused by the natural disaster. The architectural engineering standard of coral reef islet in the South China Sea should be raised as soon as possible. And some practical measures should be taken to protect the coral reef in the South China Sea.
