略论诸葛诞与琅邪诸葛氏“姓族”形成之关系

A Brief Discussion on the Relation between the Activities of Zhuge Dan and the Formation of the Zhuge Family of Langye

琅邪诸葛氏在魏晋之际人才辈出,入晋后成为名门望族。人们凭想象觉得其地位之获得主要得益于诸葛亮,其实不然。诸葛氏门望之上升主要是指活动于曹魏、两晋的诸葛诞一支。魏晋人曾比喻诸葛亮、诸葛瑾、诸葛诞兄弟为龙、虎、狗,人们多以为以“狗”喻诞为轻视,实际上则有夸奖的意思。诸葛诞在魏明帝太和年间参与“浮华交会”,成为早期玄学化名士,尽管在政治上亲善曹氏,但依然通过与司马氏联姻等方式提升了家族门望,其孙诸葛恢在东晋前期竟与琅邪王氏“争姓族先后”。

Every generation of Zhuge family from Langye produces its man of ability during the time between the Wei and Jin Dyna sties. The family became distinguished after Jin dynasty came into being. The no ble status was incorrectly assumed to benefit from Zhuge Liang because the incre asing prestige of the family was mainly limited to the branch of Zhuge Dan who o perated during the Wei and Jin Dynasties. People in those days compared Zhuge Li ang to dragon, Zhuge Jin to tiger and Zhuge Dan to dog which was thought to be a contempt but actually is a praise. Zhuge Dan attended the flashy social interc ourses during the Taihe period of Ming emperor of the Wei Dynasties, thus became one of the early profound personages. Though he was politically in favor of Cao family, Zhuge Dan promoted his family’s prestige by marriages to Sima family. His grandson, namely Zhuge Hui went so far as to contended for the priority of f amily sequence with Wang family of Langye.
