Looks of God and the Aesthetics of the Hebrews

上帝的长相在犹太教和基督教话语圈是一个避讳的话题。当我们把《圣经》当作文学著作来阅读时,上帝就成了艺术形象。而上帝外貌形相则是上帝艺术形象的重要组成部分。本文把上帝形相概括为“火”、“云”、“光”、“长衫君王”、“银发圣父”五大特征,并分析上帝形相背后所隐藏的希伯来人独特的审美意识:“神秘感”和“形藏观”。

The paper investigates, from the perspective of literature studies, the looks of God, which have been a tabooed topic in both Judaism and Christianity. When the Bible is approached as literature, God takes up an artistic look, which is summarized, in this paper, as of fire, cloud, light, king in a long gown, and father with silvery hair. All of which indicate the unique aesthetics of the ancient Hebrew people: mystification and invisibility of God. The author holds that a study like this is opening a fresh field not only of literature but also of religion and is thus provocative in the research of the Hebrew culture and the worshiping of human beings in general.
