As a part of the design specification of a horizontal rectangular vacuum vessel, the basic structure is calculated in regard to its strength with the stress distribution given to the unsafe positions on the vessel body and cover under the action of external vacuum pressure. Moreover, a safety evaluation is done for these unsafe positions.
