FORUM: RMB appreciation challenges the trade of Chinese construction machinery

随着2004年底中国外汇储备突破6000亿美元,人民币升值的预期又卷土重来,人民币汇率走向注定要成为2005年世人关注的焦点,并为市场所瞩目。2005年5月16日,国务院总理温家宝在会见美国商会代表团时说,中国将从实际出发,坚定不移地推进人民币汇率制度改革。

As the Chinese foreign exchange reserve tops $600 billion at the end of 2004, expectancy of RMB appreciation comes back again, The exchange rate of RMB becomes the focus of 2X5 and is paid attention to by both people and the market. On May 16 2005, Premier Wen Jiabao said, China will proceed from the reality and advance the reform of exchange rate system of RMB unwavering, while meeting the delegation of American Chamber of Commerce.In the face of the exchange rate question of RMB, will the trade of Chinese construction machinery be influenced? How about the steel trade, which is closely linked with it? What measures do enterprises adopt? CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY has interviewed some consumers by telephone and invited three professionals to discuss about the exchange rate of RMB.
