On Confucius' Learning Rites (Li) from Lao Zi

孔子问礼于老子当属历史事实;孔子问礼于老子的事实与老子的反礼主张并不矛盾;孔子问礼于老子只是孔子向老子学习的一个方面,孔子和老子思想的会通是多方面的。例如,老子并不反对仁,孔子也有无为的思想倾向等。

The paper holds the opinion that Confucius did have learned rites from Lao Zi. Although Lao Zi mastered the rites of Zhou, he was strongly against them. As the disciple of Lao Zi, Confucius was affected by Lao Zi in such aspects as the proposition of benevolence and the idea of no-activity.
