X—phemism是对人类所有话语的统称,分为中性语、委婉语和恶化语。本文运用语用学的相关理论,即合作原则、言语行为理论和礼貌原则,对这三种话语进行了对比分析。文章试图论证人们在交际中为了某种需要,不得不违反合作原则,使话语有言外之意;同时,这三种话语和礼貌之间的关系不是简单的对应关系,它们的交际效果受语境各个要素的影响。

X - phemism, which refers to all kinds of utterances in the human world, is classified into orthophemism, euphemism and dysphemism. This paper analyzes these X - phemisms from the perspectives of pragmatic principles - - Cooperative Principle , Speech Act Theory and Politeness Principle. The paper is intended to prove that people have to disobey the cooperative principle in order to give their utterance an illocutionary meaning for a special need in real communication, and that there is no simple one - to - one relationship between X - phemism and politeness because their communicative effectiveness is restricted by various factors in context.
