摘要
巴黎集美博物馆所藏出自敦煌的一幅１０世纪降魔变绢画上绘有一件喷火兵器的图像，克莱顿·布雷特博士、李约瑟博士等据此认为，中国在１０世纪中叶已经发明了管形火器（管筒内装有烟火混合物的火焰发射器），即火枪。但结合文献记载分析，这幅画上的喷火兵器很有可能是以１０世纪时流行的猛火油喷火器为依据而描绘的，因此目前还难以肯定它就是管形火器。
The flame thrower, discovered by Dr. Clayton Bredt in a silk banner of the 10th century from Dunhuang (now stored in the Musee Guimet,Paris.MG.17655, L'assaut de Mara) is probably not a barrel firearm or a fire-lance,but a petrol flame thrower or the Greek Fire flame thrower from Arabia.
