A Simplified Method for Obtaining Envelope of Cutter Swept Volume

摘要 运用包络理论推导出一种刀具扫描体算法,并用C语言实现.该算法通过求解刀具运动所形成的包络面方程计算刀具扫描体,计算量小,运算速度快. Wang et al [1] in 1986 and Blackmore et al [4] in 1992 gave algorithms for obtaining envelope of cutter swept volume. But their algorithms require computations to be done on a work station. In this peper, the authors give a simplified algorithm that requires only a pesonaloomputor. Different from Refs. [1] and [4], we make use of the well-known envelope equation in derivation and thus obtain a simpler algorithm for obtaining envelope of cutter swept volume. This simpler algorithm is believed to ie of help in simulation study of numerically controlled machining in China. Ultimately it is expected that such a simpler algorithm will help reduce the difficultals encounter when employing numerically controlled machines in China. It has been found that this algorithm is feasible.
