Generally sheet glass undergoes outting process in factory before practical usage,By studying the cutting damage in this paper through a large number of experiments,it is Pointed out that incorrect cutting will result in severe decrease of loading capability of glass.Theoretically analysing glass cutting the author has found that the residual stress field in glass after cutting is a dominant factor responsible for glass break age.Some experimental measurements for controlling cutting quality of sheet glass are given in this paper,The conclusions will be useful for reference in manufacture and practical use of sheet glass。
