he entire 6kD and nuclear inclusion a(NIa) genes of potato virus Y, a Chinese isolate (PVY-C) were synthesized by polymerase chain reaction(PCR)using ss-cDNA of its genomic RNA astemplate, and their sequence determined. The entire 6kD and NIa genes of PVY-Cwere composed of 156nt and 1,296nt, respectively. Sequence comparison indicated that the amino acid sequence homology of 6kD of PVY-C with that of PVYn, PVYH all were 98.08%. The amino acid sequence homology of puence homology of NIa of PVY-C with that of PV-Yn and PVY-Hwere 96.30%and 93.29%, respectively. On the basis of analyses of the NIa gene of PVY-C,expression binary vectors of two forms of 6kD+NIa gene of PVY-C. sense and antisenseRNA were constructed, respectively. .,
