The formation and orystallization behavior of AlF_3-YF_3-BaF_2-CaF_2-MgF_2-SrF_2(AYBCMS)glasses with different compositions were investigated by differential thermal analysis(DTA),X-raydiffration(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The effeets of the addition of diffe-rent SrFe_2/CaF_2 ratios on the glass strueture and properties were discussed.The results from DTAshow that when an appropriate SrF_2/CaF_2 value(=0. 82)was added to AYBCMS , thecriteria of glass-forming ability,△T=T_c-T_g and H=(T_c-T_g)/T_g, have a maximum, This indiea-tes that the glass has better thermal stability. XRD patterns and SEM micrographs are consistentwith the DTA results. It is shown that the glass sample with SrF_2/CaF_2=0.82 is not easy to becrystallized ,and its miorograph does not reveal orystals distinotly.An appropriate SrF_2/CaF_2 ratio in AYBCMS system is favourable for enhaneing the glass-forming ability and reducing the tendenoy towards orystallization.
