The area in the visual field of the normal eyes and the eyes with early glaucoma were measured with the Digital Image processing System in the IBM-PC/AT. Tnere is much more contraction of the area in the central and peripheral field of the early glaucoma with the field defect, and greatly decrease of the light sensitivity in the central field. The contraction of the field area corresponds with the decrease of the light sensitivity. There is a little decrease of the light sensitivity and much contraction of the field area in the central field in the eyes with early glaucoma without the field defect, but no change in the peripheral field.
