h--Mn--Li/SiO2 catalysts for the synthesis of C, oxygenates from syngas were studied and it was found that the composition and pretreatment conditions of the catalysts exerted significant influence on their activity and selectivity. The addition of manganese and lithium to the catalysts not only improved the selectivity for C2 oxygenates, but also increased the activity of the catalysts obviously. The catalysts with lower rhodium loading of 1 % and optimum composition after pre-treatment in proper conditions of calcination and reduction exhibited a goodcatalytic properties for the formation of C,+ oxygenates. A yield of morethan 200 g/(kg cat ·h) of C2+ oxygenates could be obtained on the catalysts in reaction conditions of 593 K, 3. 0 MPa, 10000 h-1 and H2/CO(vol ratio ) = 2.
